Kaneohe’s Blaine Fujimoto captured the championship filght of the 2012 Waikoloa Amateur Championship, which was held Saturday and Sunday at the Waikoloa Village Golf Club. A total of 116 amateur golfers from the Big Island and around the state competed over 36 holes in five flights for a total prize purse of over $8,500.

“This has become the most successful amateur golf tournament on the island,” a tourney spokesman said.

First place winners in each of the remaining flights were: A – Wedemeyer Au, Waikoloa; B- Chris Paulachak; Senior – David Jett, Puna; Super Senior Gross – Bruce Russell, Hilo; Super Senior Net – Byron Murasaki, Hilo.
